Parkour Pictures - Not Parkour

So, I do feel kinda BAD writing this blog today but I think people need to learn about the basic principle of what Parkour really is.  Remember guys, since we live and die by the internet here Wikipedia says Parkour is:

So yea, fun little video I made a while back explaining how ridged the idea of Parkour really is, however today I will agree with the robots in the picture.  I see people doing this all time with just putting the word Parkour in their title to grab attention toward a project they do on YouTube, no matter how BAD the video.  SEO and all that greatness is awesome, but for the most part, your killing the idea of a discipline guys.  If I saw a backyard brawl between two squirrel I would likely title my YouTube video squirrel fight, not BAD MMA Madness 2012!

As you see in the video below there is a guy who evidently did some training around the world, but to me, it's a handstand.  Sure we can go all existential and ask "Is it really just a handstand?"  The truth of the matter is that it only shows a bunch of handstands.  You see videos like this on YouTube all the time.  So Traceurs out there, please from the bottom of my little BAD heart, do not put a wrong impression of Parkour out there on the YouTubes, than again...that's pretty much said every PARKOURBAD article in one way or another.

Residents Reeling as Freerunners Vault into Town

Goes to show you never really know what the video is about until you read up a bit about the video.  Linked below is an article about those dang free running/parkour nuisances.

Funny enough, that is the strongest word that they even use in the article.  It points out one predominant Traceurs that a local or even several locals are trying to get rid of or have him stop training in their town and local spots.  Although the story is vague the stroy specifically points out one Traceur, Slava P.  The vague comes when refering specifically to Slava or other Traceurs around the town.

They site specifically claims of asking these guys to leave and they continue to come back.  This is kind of a unwritten Parkour Code I would say.  If people ask you to not train there anymore then by all means don't tell them "See you tomorrow."  In the article one citizen went as far as calling the police on them.

Evidently these guys have a BAD respect for the citizens in their own town.  I feel this to be BAD for the community and I continue to see BAD articles like this popping up all the time about Traceurs who are just plain not respecting the town, environment or people.

Please read the article here:

Parkour Backflip to Head

Get ready for a pet peeve of mine!  SPOTTING.  There are so many people in the Parkour community that think they can spot someone trying to do Parkour specific movement or even a gymnastics movement.  I will tell you right now, YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED!

Seen above is an amazingly BAD video of two guys trying to spot a man doing a backflip.  This is horrible.  If someone says they can spot you doing something, do not trust them unless you know they have the skill.  There are plenty of times that you can "help a bro" out with Parkour or gymnastics but do not trust someone with a potentially life threatening movement UNLESS THEY ARE TRAINED!

My advice, get a certification.  Parkour Federation, ADAPT, USAG.  Something!  It will teach you how to actually understand the responsibility of being spotted or spotting someone else.

Plus, don't even get me started on the fact they called it a Parkour Backflip.
