Haters have to hate, and that is me today. Luke is jumping from what apartment complex to another today in this video. This, is a BAD idea. No, he does not kill himself or fall, but are we really waiting for his Week 4 Video, where he does?
Luke shows us his training involved with jumping a dangerous jump. His training includes jumping one other jump as dangerous as the one he is jumping this day of the video. Here are just a couple things I would like to point out about this video.
Most videos do not show a warm up but the movement before the video, maybe a man wearing the same clothes and outfit does several other moves on camera, thus knowing he was at least physically active before some of the movement in the later part of the video. This illustrates for us, get your mind read (not your body and go do a BAD thing) Jump off a roof.
This guy is Young, too young to understand trespassing policies and understand the real training it takes to do "stunts" because that is all this video is about.
Luke is glorifying danger and not the strength of his body. You glorify danger in movies not in Parkour training. We as Traceurs want to allows show how safe our training is with the grace of our body, which brings me to the next criticism.
No grace, no strength, he does a couple things to show us this, first to get up the building he takes several breaks, sure it is a very large building, but it shows us his strength. He also shows us his grace by putting "bones on the ground" This is something I teach every one of my students, if you do not want to hurt your knee, elbow or head, don't put it on the ground. He obviously does not have the technique to continue with his "stunts".
Luke, does not know how to jump, you can see in both of his jumps his hips are pushing forward and his heels are in his butt and not his knees into his chest, this my friends is so very dangerous.
To sum up everything that I am really saying here...Here is a tip, if you are doing what Luke is doing, GO TRAIN MORE!
